Minds on the Move make Ideal Tenants and House Sitters

Why do You need Your Own Tenant Listing?

Most services focus only on home offers, but we believe that people on our website deserve to shine too. Our community of Minds on the Move has a lot to accomplish! When you’re seeking a temporary home to pursue your dreams and live in another location, why not define what you are looking for and why?

If you are planning to travel or relocate, it may be challenging to find the right home to stay in. On SabbaticalHomes, you can put together your wish list for the perfect temporary home. Special homes will open up to you because you took the time to create your tenant listing. By doing so, you make it possible for a homeowner with that perfect place to contact you and start the process of checking each other’s references to see if you’re a good fit for each other.

You will also be able to contact home listings, but you will have more credibility when you create your own tenant listing and attach it to your inquiry. Having a tenant listing saves time, too. By letting potential hosts know what you are looking for, you’ll be likely to receive messages from those that are truly a good fit. Also, having a tenant listing will increase your opportunities because your listing will be visible to potential hosts who are just getting started and haven’t posted their home listing yet.

Post your Tenant Listing

Are you interested in a specific neighborhood? Do you need to be close to a university? Perhaps a retreat or stay in the countryside in a quiet place close to nature sounds perfect? Ideally, you’d like something furnished, and you can even consider whether you’d like to rent an entire home or a private space in a home. Many SabbaticalHomes members enjoy living like a local by sharing a home.

Whether your stay is for work or pleasure, you’ll be able to customize the details. Once you have signed up for SabbaticalHomes, you can post your tenant listing including: your ideal location, size and type of home, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, dates of your stay, the number of people who will be staying, any preferences for a child-friendly or pet-friendly home and more.

Furthermore, you can indicate if you are open to house sitting. Bringing in the mail or packages, helping with plants, taking care of a pet or any of those may be invaluable to your host. They will easily apply house sitting filters to their tenant search results. While house sitting on SabbaticalHomes does not usually mean that a tenant stays in the home for free, oftentimes homeowners will provide a discount to the rate in exchange for house sitting help.

The more information you include on your tenant listing, the easier it’ll be to connect with potential hosts. Find out more about tenant listings and our pricing structure before you start.

Find Your Perfect Tenant

Once you have signed up and created your home rental listing, you don’t have to wait for other members to contact you. Search our database of tenant listings to find potential guests looking for a place to stay in or near your location.

You’ll be able to narrow down the search results by applying filters including their dates, budget range, if the tenants are looking to rent an entire home or a private space in a home and, of course, if they are interested in house sitting tasks during their stay.

Take a look through their listing detail page, and if the other member’s requests seem like a good fit for your home, you can view their profile. While we maintain member privacy in many ways (like requiring an alias versus using the full name), information in the profile is designed to answer some of the questions you may have. For instance, does the potential tenant have other successful matches, personal references and/or reviews on their public profile. If it seems like a good fit, here are some guidelines on questions to ask the other member (as well as checking their references).
