I am a Johns Hopkins Professor retiring in June; we are planning to travel for several months and hope to rent our home to a single person, couple, or small family who will enjoy our home during a short-term lease. Our home would be suitable for someone coming for sabbatical, fellowship, nursing assignment, or other short-term work; it would also be great for someone moving to Baltimore who wants to rent for a short time before choosing a house to purchase. Our home has 10.5 foot ceilings, art collected from Africa and Asia, children's art, a mix of antique and Zimbabwe teak furniture and oriental rugs, and a piano. Kitchen has custom cabinetry, granite counter, Wolf gas range, with a sitting room with wall-to-wall sliding glass doors onto the patio. Behind our house a little known "dog park" providing a buffer between us and Key Highway. Powder room on ground floor. In the spring we plant red geraniums in front and back pots, and multiple flowers on the decks. 2nd floor-master bedroom has king-size West Elm Mid-Century canopy bed with memory foam mattress, master bath remodeled last year with hand-molded tile shower, deep soaking tub, double vanity. Second floor family room has smart TV and long couch which unfolds to Comfort Sleeper twin beds for weekend guests and wall-to-wall sliding glass doors onto a deck that feels like a tree house nestled into a 60-foot magnolia tree. Third floor bedroom has a king-size antique bed with memory foam mattress. 3rd bedroom currently used as office overlooking the Inner Harbor, includes a couch with queen-size Comfort Sleeper for additional house guests, and walks out on large deck and circular stairs to the roof deck. Between 2 bedrooms is a guest bath, double vanity, shower, custom cabinetry. Roof deck added last year- spectacular 360-degree views of Ravins Stadium, Camden yards, the inner harbor, skyline. L-shaped comfortable outdoor furniture surrounds a gas fireplace inside a cocktail table. A small shelf table with 2 stools is the perfect place to perch over coffee or lunch while watching the boats and taking in the view. Finished basement with window currently used as second office. Our neighbors are friendly, inclusive, and multi-generational (4 babies born on our block last year plus active Octogenarians) and include university faculty and writers. 1 minute walk to the promenade which runs through Inner Harbor and Harbor East, to Fells Point. 5 min walk to free Water Taxi. Science and Visionary Art Museums each a 5-minute walk away. Walk to Ravins and Orioles games. Just 1.5 blocks at the end of Montgomery St is the 10-acre- Federal Hill Park - a signature Baltimore landmark offering some of the most noted views of the city. The park is used from morning to night by people of every age and race - listen for multiple languages and watch for bridal parties posing for photos in front of the harbor and skyline back drop.
