ABOUT US: We are a family of 3: I'm a writer of multiple books, my husband is a university professor, and we have a 10yo son. We're clean, quiet, respectful neighbors who will be spending six months of sabbatical in Berlin. ABOUT OUR HOME: Brand-new 3BR duplex down in the heart of Andersonville on Chicago's North Side. You enter our apartment on the ground floor, which features a large open-plan kitchen, dining room and sitting area with 10-foot ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling windows with southern exposure open onto a spacious roofed terrace with flowering window boxes and potted plants, a Green Egg grill and an outdoor heating system for chillier evenings. Also on the ground floor: the master bedroom is huge, light-filled with a memory foam bed and ample storage space. Master bathroom includes two showerheads (rain shower and massage) and two sinks in an all-marble bath with heated flooring. The ground floor also includes a guest half bathroom. The downstairs level features an enormous living area also with 10-foot ceilings. The living room includes an upright piano and stereo system including top-of-the-line speakers, turntable, and CD player. (We've got two guitars too!) A fully stocked bar with mini-fridge is located right behind the leather couch, perfect for entertaining or movie night. Four-feet tall windows flood this room with daylight from two angles, western and southern exposures. Downstairs you'll find two bedrooms. One is outfitted as an office with a couch that converts into a comfy double bed. The other is a kid's room with bunk bed, many toys and books (and Legos!). Stackable washer-dryer with linens as well as another full bathroom with tub and heated flooring complete this floor. Our home is stocked with everything you need for a local picnic, a beach jaunt, a bike ride (we have two adult and one child-sized bike in the garage), or a dinner party. Our home is quiet and beautiful; it gets lovely daylight at every hour and in every season and weather. We're located on a leafy, tree-lined street steps from Clark Street with all its amenities and a 10-min walk to Foster Beach. It's very walkable with fantastic transit access—Red Line trains, many buses, plus an express bus that brings you to the Loop in 20min. ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD Andersonville is located on Chicago's North Side, one of the city's prettiest and most welcoming neighborhoods and very LGBTQ+ friendly. The main Clark Street strip is full of independently owned small businesses, including storied vintage shops (Scout) and great record stores (Rattleback Records), and home to some of Chicago's greatest restaurants (Anteprima, Vincent, Ora Sushi) and bars (the Hopleaf, Simon's Tavern). The neighborhood is extremely kid-friendly too, with many local playgrounds, ice cream and dessert shops, and toy stores. We are minutes' away from Foster Beach and Lakeshore Drive, on which you can bike or rollerblade the city's entire lakefront park. It's an easy jaunt from our place to the city's many attractions, from Lincoln Park Zoo (12min away) to Wrigley Field (15min away) to all the museums, shopping, restaurants and nightlife downtown in the Loop. Academics will appreciate its proximity to many colleges and universities as well as archives and libraries including the Newberry, Art Institute and CPL.
