Green Wave Cottage is located in the 4x4 area of Corolla (CAROVA BEACH) at mile 20, about 20 mins from the end of the pavement, on the Northernmost part of the North Carolina Outer Banks. One dog is permitted, 1 king, 1 queen, 2 twins, 2 baths, in the maritime forest with complete privacy, set more soundside with a quick 3 min drive or walkable to beach (10-15 mins). Driving on the beach is permitted. Lots of new, well-equipped, smart features in a pristine maritime forest nature setting. There is a hot tub on the back porch. Partially fenced back yard. Featuring original art in every room. Washer/dryer, dishwasher, double oven, central air fully stocked kitchen. It would be perfect for working remotely over the fall/winter/spring. This is a beautiful, unique space designed to foster creativity, reflection, and is the perfect place to finish a manuscript or project. The house is located in a large oceanfront wild horse sanctuary with approximately 100 horses that roam free over the area's Currituck National Wildlife Refuge and Currituck Banks Coastal Estuarine Reserve. It is a soul-filling beach adventure refuge to coexist with nature in an unspoiled way. Utilities are included (water and electricity), as well as Wi-Fi internet with smart TVs for streaming. There is a whole house generator on the property. Trash removal is not included but the trash facility is close to the house. Please note that four wheel drive is required to access the property-- Carova Beach has a bit of a Robinson Crusoe island vibe to it. You will need to travel on the beach in order to access the community. This community of about 700 houses has roads that are all sand and the closest grocery store/restaurant is about 20 mins away. I have found it to be a highly productive space, designed to support my own academic and spiritual journey with full consideration of my family, so the house is very kid friendly. The kitchen is fully stocked with new dishwasher, double oven, and the house has lots of smart features, including a smart remote vacuum, smart Keurig, and 3 Roku TVs for wireless streaming. This space is for: people who are looking for a remote nature immersion experience, people who want to connect to the natural rhythms of the tides and stargazing, people who work best in solitude, people who are up for the unique adventure of getting to the house (which is easy and fun but takes a bit of getting used to the first time, as you will drive approximately 9 miles past the Corolla lighthouse on the beach to access the community, and renters who would like to accommodate a family. This space is NOT recommended for people who have accessibility concerns since the house is on sand roads and is an elevated "beach box" requiring a stair climb, people who do not have access to a four wheel drive vehicle, people who are uncomfortable with stores/restaurants being a 20 minute drive away in Corolla, or people who need to commute daily to a local university. The Tidewater/ Hampton Roads, VA area is the closest university setting and is approximately 1 hr 30 min to 2 hr drive. I am open to week long stays at the rate of $1000/week or month long stays at $2600/month. The house is available from October- March.
