This is a family friendly home close to the University of Connecticut just over a mile away. This is a rural area of Connecticut with many beautiful walking paths and bicycle paths. There are extensive sports facilities on campus and the Mansfield Community Center has an Olympic pool, a Therapy pool, a well-equipped gym, and additional rooms for classes (spin, yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, and so forth), a full-sized basketball gym with a running track above. Skateboard ramps are outside next to the playground and day care for kids. UCONN has a large ice rink open to locals for hockey and figure skating and a new facility with stadium seating for games. There are no sidewalks, but there are excellent schools for primary, middle, and high school students with AP classes taught at UCONN. UCONN ‘s winning polo club has horses that can be visited on Horsebarn Hill. It's at the beginning of a 2-mile loop that passes the black and white Jersey and brown Holstein cows that can be seen in the milking barn. There are about 200 cows helping to produce the exquisite ice cream at the Dairy Bar on campus. Also, Black Angus and Hereford bulls, sheep, chickens, and other animals being bred along that 2-mile loop around the school of agriculture. It’s an easy drive to the local movieplex 15 minutes away and a giant IMAX multiplex 18 that broadcasts Metropolitan Opera simulcast performances and the giant Buckland Hills shopping mall half an hour away in Manchester. There are Walmart, Costco, Trader Joes, Home Depot, Loews, Target, JoAnne Fabrics, an Apple store, and many restaurants aside from all the clothing stores. The Connecticut Repertory Theatre is resident at UCONN, and the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts brings in a variety of high-end touring shows from Momix to Puppet presentations to classical music ensembles, to ballet and flamenco, to renowned solo artists. It's only a half hour drive to Hartford with Broadway musicals and plays at the Bushnell Theatre or an hour away at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. Hartford Stage, Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Trinity Rep in Providence, and American Repertory Theatre in Boston are all award-winning regional theatres nearby. Theatre Works in Hartford has contemporary plays fresh from New York and Playhouse on Park is a more intimate theatre space. Mystic Seaport & many amazing beaches are south on Long Island Sound and there is skiing just north of us. A Six Flags amusement park is 45 minutes away. The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford is the oldest museum in the country with a large collection of Hudson River School paintings among other fine artwork The New England Patriots play in Foxborough, MA about 1 hr 15 min away and UCONN Football is at Rentschler Field a half an hour drive while the Hartford Yard Goats baseball team play at the new Dunkin Stadium in Hartford. UCONN Basketball games are at the XL Center in Hartford & the Connecticut Sun WNBA play at Mohegan Arena. The Mohegan Sun Arena hosts touring music stars, but is primarily a casino like Foxwoods casino nearby, both a 40 min drive. MGM casino in Springfield, MA is an hour drive the other direction. The airport is 40 minutes’ drive. Boston is 1-2 hours’ drive depending on traffic and New York City and Broadway are 2-3 hours’ drive depending on traffic. Living history can be experienced at Plymouth Plantation, a replica of the original settlement, and there is a settlement of Patuxent Native Americans there too. Sturbridge Village, a short half-hour drive, is a preserved 1830s town with re-enactors. Newport Rhode Island - 2 hours’ drive - has large mansions from the Gilded Age to visit. It's the best of both worlds; a quiet restful retreat close to campus with bustling urban areas nearby. In our immediate area we are entertained by many deer, wild turkeys, numerous other birds and hawks, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. It's an easy walk or bike to campus in good weather or a 5-minute drive.

Comments: Sabbatical family preferred or Grad students. No pets please. All Queen-sized beds. 3 bedrooms 2 baths upper, 1 bed & bath lower. Washer/Dryer lower level. Oil heat, Electric Stove. Part-time gardener & snow plower included. Recommend 4 wheel drive.
Comments: There will be 2 cars parked on site: A Kia Soul and a Nissan Rogue Sport. Driveway can accommodate 3 additional parked cars. There are lots of house plants to water. Lawn to mow. Curbside trash and recycle pickup once a week.
Water houseplants, mow lawn with electric mower, use leaf blower to clean driveway. Shovel walkways & missed parts of driveway plow missed. Gardener sets up watering system, but responsible to make sure that it is working. Set up deer deterrents.
Comments: There are 4 heat zones in the house: living/dining room, 3 bedroom wing upstairs, 1 in garage, 1 for suite downstairs that is a self-contained bedroom/sitting room/bath/dining area with separate keyed entrance. Quiet grad student is current renter.

Comments: Home owner in Seattle until end of May earliest. Friendly family neighborhood close to UCONN campus & buses. Quiet grad puppet arts major is in the lower level apartment. Prefer no pets, but we can negotiate.
