About the rental: The rental is a 1 bedroom available in a 2 bedroom/1 bath first-floor apartment in a 3-story house. The room for let is currently semi-furnished, but upon request, the items of furniture can be removed. The rent is $950.00. The utilities are shared and would be ½ of the gas, internet, and professional house cleaning twice a month. This is non-negotiable; while I am not a neat freak I am too old for mess and disorder. In the summer, the total is about $195.00 (rounded up) and usually $265.00 (rounded up) in the winter. About the house/shared space: The house is a lovely older home with all the charming touches you would expect, breakfast nook (that can be used as an office by you), hardwood floors, brick fireplace, crystal light fixtures, beautiful open woodwork, glass door knobs, and crown molding. It also has a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom!! The bathroom has great water pressure and temperature (if you have lived in older homes in Boston, you know, lol) and a bath. The kitchen also has all new appliances, a gas stove, garbage disposal, and a dishwasher. There is also a small but beautiful and somewhat wild garden and backyard space and a 3/4 year screened-in porch which is lovely for a drink in the summer or a cup of tea in the fall. While it has a lot to offer the downsides are Belmont has no overnight on-street parking. So ideally, you do not have a car, and if you do, you must be willing to be flexible with myself and the other tenants regarding parking on the premises. Although, Boston is a pretty bike friendly place and there is decent public transport. There is on-site laundry (plus), but it is for the whole house (minus), so again, being flexible is key. Finally, this may be a plus or a minus, but this is my family home. So it is fully decorated, in a personal grand-millennial meets cottage-core style with some modern touches. Many find it absolutely charming, but it is not to everyone's liking. There is also not a lot of additional storage space; however, most of the items in the common areas are for mutual use (i.e. coffee maker, electric kettle, pots and pans, everyday kitchen dishware, broom, vacuum/hoover, etc.) About the area: For a suburban feel, this is a good location and is about a 15-30 minute bus ride to Harvard Square/University, and the bus stop is a five-minute walk. It is also a five-minute walk to Fresh Pond, which is a lovely green oasis that is an excellent place for a run or a walk. There is a Star Market, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Target, and two shopping centers (Fresh Pond and Arsenal Yards), and cute restaurants all within .50 to two miles away (sorry I don't know how many km, lol). There are also many great smaller Greek/Armenian grocery stores where you can pick up lots of goodies. Yummy!! About me: I am an interesting, progressive, outgoing yet professional, fairly quiet, woman (cis-gendered and female presenting), working in the public school system. I am looking for someone who wants to live in a comfortable, welcoming environment where they can come home and know they can relax or do work. I imagine this would be a great find for a grad student/postdoc or newly transplanted professional looking to defray the high cost of living in Boston. During the school year, I work a lot (50 to 60 hours a week), and most days I come home, between 4pm-8pm, work on reports/lesson plans, make a quick dinner, take a bath and go to bed between 9pm-11pm. I also wake up early, between 5:30am-7:30 am. However, I will have the occasional guest (once every week or two) and small dinner parties about once every month or two. I think that is about it, lol. If this sounds good, please get in touch with me, and give me some info about yourself. I'd love to meet you!! I'm also happy to set up virtual or in-person meets/tours. Fianlly, please be ready to provide financials and references. Happy Hunting!! Petra
