Modern Apartment: Easy Commute to Cornell University or Ithaca College

We are a retired couple who have lived in this quiet, rural setting for nearly 50 years. Having attended Cornell and Ithaca College, we continue our relationships with the academic community. The apartment is on the second floor of a building we call the Raven Barn and has a private entrance. The Raven Barn was built in 2014, is solar powered, and has air source heat pump heating and cooling, as well as an emergency backup generator. Raven Barn is very energy efficient with the apartment warm in winter and cool in summer. With the college town only a few minutes away, we get the best of both worlds. Our house is a few hundred yards away from the Raven Barn in a wooded setting at the end of our dead end road. We encourage hiking in the woods, cross country skiing, and birdwatching as outdoor activities. There is a small vegetable garden in front of the building and a private pond behind. This is a quiet and friendly neighborhood of small young families and retired professionals, all of whom enjoy the outdoors. We are adjacent to the Danby State Forest and a walk through the woods to the Fingerlakes Trail. The apartment has one bedroom and a sleeping loft and will easily accommodate a couple or parent and a child. The modern open architecture provides ample kitchen/dining and living space. The kitchen has an island gas range with grill, a Breville toaster oven, coffee maker, and other appliances for pleasurable cooking. The refrigerator has an ice maker and there is an undercounted dishwasher and large farm sink. The decor is loosely midcentury modern with personal touches. The apartment comes with high-speed wireless internet, digital phone service, and HDTV, as well as recyling/garbage removal. All lawn maintenance and snow removal is provided by the owner. The monthly rental is $1,500 and includes all of the above amenities and services. Daily and weekly rates are available upon request. There is a $200 cleaning fee at the end of the occupancy. As a retired couple, we enjoy travel. The ideal tenant would be someone to whom we could entrust the care of our two cats and greenhouse while away. We would reimburse for these services either as a direct payment or rental discount. However, this service is not a prerequisite for tenancy.
