This comfortable house is on a 1 acre garden property with >100 fruit trees! It is very quiet and safe - we sometimes hear owls at night! The house has a small but complete kitchen, a sunny dining and living room area, a full bath, a large light-filled office, an entry suitable for bike storage and full washer and dryer, and its own private yard area, and off street parking. It is furnished throughout with well made vintage furniture that is comfortable and functional. There is a full queen size bed in the bedroom and a queen sized futon fold-out sofa bed in the office. All linens and kitchen utensils are included. We live in a well separated house at the front of the property and are a faculty member and research scientist at UCSB. The house is on a dedicated class 1 bike path, separate from cars, that goes to UCSB and some downtown areas. It is about 6 miles to UCSB through pleasant neighborhoods, farms, a marsh and the beach. It is also a short walk to a city bus stop with buses to UCSB and downtown. This from a visitor who has stayed in this house 3x since 2018: This is a very special home in a very special neighborhood. Off the street, tucked away under an overarching tree and surrounded by the beautiful colors of a large fruit garden, you will find yourself living in a very private, peaceful, and spacious cottage. The cottage is located in Hope Ranch Annex, which has an almost rural quietness to it, yet placing all of Santa Barbara right at your fingertips (bike path just across, own private driveway for car, public transit [bus] stops 5min walk). Easy access to campus and a large office room in the cottage make this an ideal accommodation for researchers visiting UCSB. I found the online description of the place and its amenities to be perfectly truthful. It had just everything I needed for a longer term stay. There is really nothing to add here. The owners are exceptionally kind, helpful and responsive. Communication with them has always been swift, pleasant, and reliable from the first contact to departure. They live in a separate building on the property, concealed behind orange trees and wine plants. I would absolutely stay here again!
