I am a 58 year old religious scholar with a graduate degree from a major Protestant seminary. I am the author of a motivational guide for at-risk youth. The book is being used to mentor and motivate first-time offenders and ex-offenders. It will soon be used by junior high and high schools to mentor and motivate students who are at risk for school failure. The house sitting opportunity would give me freedom to complete the research and writing on the second in a four book series centered on spiritual principles for success in life. I am careful in my writings to avoid any idea that capitalism or conspicuous consumption have anything to do with success. In fact I define success in a way that separates it completely from material gain and moves it into the arena of personal identity, expression of identity through gifts and abilities, development of character, and a deep sense of security. These principles have made a difference in the lives of a small group of ex-offenders that I have been meeting with for the past 3 years in Hartford, Ct. I would like to remain in the area and continue my work with these people.
