Charming, peaceful one-bedroom cottage one block from vibrant, hip Piedmont Avenue shops, world-class restaurants, burrito joints, bookstores, Fenton's old fashioned Ice Creamery. 10-minute drive to UC Berkeley, 15 to downtown San Francisco. Buses to SF/Berkeley at corner; casual carpool to SF two minute walk from house. Walking distance to CCA and biking distance to UCB. Within easy driving distance of the sea, mountains, redwoods, wine country.
Hardwood floors, great light, full kitchen (gas stove, dishwasher, garbage disposal, full-size refrigerator, excellent cabinet space), one bathroom, nestled at the back of a fully fenced huge yard, an idyllic garden created by current residents, a botanist and a landscape designer, replete with plum and fig trees, deck, double hammock and ample outdoor space for dining al fresco and entertaining nearly year-round.
Living/dining room includes original built-ins, crown molding and fireplace. Office nook off the main room looks out onto the hummingbird-frequented herb garden. Bedroom fits double or queen bed. Large 2-person glassed-in shower in bath off bedroom.
If you'd like in-house laundry, it's possible to hook up a portable washer and dryer. Otherwise, everything you could possibly need, including laundry with wash and fold, is just one block away.
I'm a writer/teaching artist who's previously found both tenants and homes on this site. I'm looking for responsible, easy-going folks who will enjoy the haven this cottage provides. It's ideal for folks living an eco-friendly, simple life, who value the solitude in not having shared walls or up/down stairs neighbors. Bonus points if you're a gardener in search of Eden. Three past residents, including myself, have finished writing books here. It's a lovely little spot to call home.
