| Charming (and big/ for 6 people) mediterranean property near Montpellier (20 mn by car) in the heart of a country village (south of France) |
THE HOUSE: built in the 19th century, is part of an old wine property restored in 2001 and includes the main house (about 210 sqm), a large barn (car parking) and a garden (1200 sqm). The house is isolated from the street and very quiet. Nature is realy close ! But on the other hand you are not completely isolated; 2 mn by foot there is the post office and a little grocer. The house is spacious, sunny (but not too hot in summer period because of the 1 meter thick wall!), functional and very well furnished (one grand father was a painter, so we have many paintings, antique furniturs as well as modern good quality, all giving a harmonious tasteful environment).
On the ground floor : one large modern kitchen (35 msq), one large living room with an open fire place (50 msq), the entrance, a small laundry (washing machine, dryer), an office (could be use as a bedroom), a large bathroom (with bath) and an independant toilet. In front of the kitchen there is a patio shaded by vines and with barbecue,
Looking over the kitchen there is a mezanine (could be used as office or place for kids) and behind a little and independant room (10msq).
An other broad staircase leads to a second floor with 3 large rooms (20msq and 2x 18msq), a small bathroom with shower and an independant toilet.
We have neither air conditionning nor swimming pool, by conviction (energy consum) but the house can be kept cool if you take care and a river is close!
Cars and bikes are parked in the barn. Exchange of car possible(monospace, 5 seats)
SURROUNDING the house : the little village named la Boissière (750 hab)is located between woods and vineyards but close to Montpellier. Town center of Montpellier and universities/research centers can be reached by car (20/25 mn).
la Boissière is located between Mediterranean sea and Cevennes mountains (30 to 45 mn by car). But very close to the house (15mn by car) you can find numerous places of great interest for visiting as well as sports (medieval villages such as St Guilhem-le-Désert, caves, river Hérault with canyon and sandbeach, places for canoeing, horse riding, biking, ...).
Some longer trips : (1.5 h to 2h by car) Roman aqueduc at Pont du Gard, Nîmes with Roman temple, La Couvertoirade, a walled medieval village, Avignon (the entrance of Provence), the riviera, Arles and the Camargue with pink flamingos...and not so far (3h by car) Spain!
We also have a ancient house (XIXth century) 2.5h by car from the main one, in the national park of volcanos of Auvergne that could be included in the exchange (1 large living room with a big open fire place, 2 rooms, 3 double beds and 1 bunk bed, 2 bathrooms) and were you can ski in winter.
