This light, spacious, four-bedroom, two-bathroom Victorian terraced house is available for a short-term let from mid-April until the end of May 2010.
Having had considerable recent refurbishment, the ground floor consists of a through lounge/dining-room and kitchen (all with wood floors). The kitchen has recently been refitted with solid wood units, recycled-glass worktop, large fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer and large six-ring gas hob/electric-oven cooker. The kitchen leads through to a slate-floored conservatory, with glass folding doors providing views on to the 80-foot south-facing garden (also recently landscaped). The garden consists of a lawn area, as well as a slate patio with outdoor table and chairs.
On the first-floor, the main double bedroom lies at the front of the house, with the middle bedroom currently used as a nursery. There is also a recently refurbished bathroom, and small back bedroom (currently used for storage).
On the second-floor, a large and light loft area doubles as both a study and potential second double-bedroom (with a comfortable sofa-bed). There are two desks in the study with high-speed wired access to the internet (wireless access is available in the rest of the house). The study/loft area also has an en-suite bathroom.
The house is situated on a quiet road in Tooting, south-west London. Tooting is a lively and safe multi-cultural area with some of the best South Asian restaurants this side of the Thames. Tooting also has a good range of local shops, including a large supermarket for groceries within close walking distance. A wide choice of cafes and restaurants is also available in nearby Balham. The house is within ten minutes' walk from Tooting Broadway underground station (Northern Line, Zone 3), from which it is possible to travel to central London within 25 minutes. The house is also around 5 minutes' walk from Tooting overground train station, which has a regular service to Blackfriars (opposite the Tate Modern) and St Pancras (ideal for the British Library). Wimbledon is also a very short journey on the overground train line, with its wide range of shops and restaurants.
The house is therefore conveniently situated for accessing any of central London universities (trips to most of the Colleges of the University of London take 40-50 minutes door-to-door, for example).
As this is a short-term let (during a period when we are away on a sabbatical trip), all utility bills (council tax, gas, water, and electricity) are included in the rental price, excluding the telephone bill.
